Today, daas would like to share a story which daas read on a forum.Its about Bhai Jeevan Singh Ji.

Bhai Sahib is very ill as every is aware of that, and is not capable of doing any sewa.The doctor told  him and his wife that in this condition its advisable not to do anything but to rest.His wife was very strict with Bhai Sahib.

When they reached home, Bhai Sahib was left in his room.The wife locked the room so that he couldnt get out of the room.Bhai Sahib,a very loving person, and his love for the Guroo is so so intense , that when his wife came to check on him, the window was open and Bhai Sahib jumped out of that window.Waheguroo.

In a way its hilarious, but also an act of sacrifice and love.He loved his Guro oso much, that he sacrificed his health just to GO AND DO KEERTAN SEWA!Waheguroo.

When daas read above , daas feel in love with Bhai Sahibs love and attitude.Some background about Bhai Sahib, he is very ghareeb(Humble) and he doesnt talk bad about anyone, this is a true Gursikh.

Recently, daas was looking at Bhai Sahibs photos and noticed that he has this smile, which is amazingly innocent like a child and charming.Daas became emotional, and did ardas to Akal Purakh, even though its a bad karam not to have Darshan of this Guroo Ka Sikh, but still, thank full that his photos darshan could be done.Daas would recommend sangat to hear Bhai Sahibs Keertan.Amazingly Anand and full of Bairag and Bliss.Daas really feels different hearing Bhai Sahibs keertan, maybe due to his innocent like voice.Waheguroo.

Daas is not attached to Bhai Sahib, but would really love to meet this great Gurmukh Pyara and hug him.Bhai Sahib is spiritually Ponceh Ho-a.Daas benti, always find opportunity to do Sangat with Gursikhs, and always try sitting near to them in sangat, cause daas has heard that some kirpa which they have , Waheguroo Ji would bless the person next to them, and always Naam Jaap.Waheguroo.

May Maharaj bless every one with Gursikh Jeevan, Naam ,Sewa ,Rehat and Pyar for Waheguroo Ji.

Once Daas was very upset due to the beadi of Dhan Sri Guroo Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj which was world wide.Then some one told daas this story, which from from Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Jis time.

Once , if not mistaken, Bhai Sahibs cousin or friend was very ill.So then, his aunt told him to help to peace down the soul from suffering from alot of pain.So Bhai Sahib Ji started doing Gurbani Jaap(Daas thinks its Sukhmani Sahib if not mistaken). After doing the Path, he did ardas to Guroo Sahib to have pity.As soon as he finised Ardas, Shaheed Singh(‘s) came and gave Darshan to Bhai Sahib.This was what they said.”You shouldnt had done that path and ardas,for we were going to give a very heavy punishment on this guy, cause he doesnt do satkar of Guroo Sahib.We were going to kill him!”

From this story, we should learn the moral of the story, which is to always do satkar and to respect Guroo Sahib as much as possible , and not take Maharaj as a mere “Book”.Daas have seen alot of places , how Maharaj Ji is ill treated and no respect is given.Such as not washing Guroo Sahibs white kamarkase clothes, not ironing them , late Prakash and etc.

Whenever Maharaj Baksh this der dey Bihkhari with doing Seva in the local Gurdwara, daas try to make sure Guroo Sahib is well treated , even though no one is perfect accpect the True Guroo.Daas hope every one would alway get the daat of Seva and always keep in Cardikala.

Waheguroo Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguroo Ji Ki Fateh!

There are many of us out there, who says Raagmala is gurbani
and others say its not.There was some one who told me this 
very beautiful thing.He said ” Why fight on the last ang of
Guroo Granth Sahib Ji, when the ang before it, we dont do
vichar on it.We dont do vichar on the bani from Ek Ongkar
to Dhan Maan Tiveh Haria.”

Just this words, and it made me think, ” So true.The Panth
hasnt overcome this problem.The only thing they said was
read it if you want , or not. Its all in our hand.” People start
arguing about keski as kakar , and Raagmala , but they dont
argue if one Naam Jaaped Ath Pehar or did Amritwela today!
(which is more important)

So, lets just forget everything and concentrate on Naam 
and Amrit wela, like Bhai Rama Singh Ji said in his book
“Khalsa will recieve Raaj , when Guroo Gobind Singh Jis 
puran rehat is kept,and amritwela is kept.They should 
belive in their Guroo so much they shouldnt have doubt
about anything.” Daas benti lets just do ardas for our
Panth and always ask Guroo Sahib to always keep us
in Cardikala and restrain us from Kurehat and Vaikar
and always Bless Us with his Naam.

Bhai Rama Singh Jee said to somebody some time back that a Gursikh needs to renounce (tyag) these 3 things :-

1. Neend i.e. Sleep: because of our love of sleep we miss or reduce our amritvela

2. Par Tan i.e. Other People’s Bodies _..e.g. attachments to people, adultery, lust. The only way to truly be able to tyag/renounce sexual attraction is to live gristee/family life.

3. Par Dhan i.e. Other People’s Wealth _..e.g. stealing, jealousy of others belongings

Comment :

The only way to truly be able to tyag/renounce sexual attraction is to live gristee/family life. Only then does the lure of lust depart, otherwise no matter how much Bhagatee/Meditation one does, the mind has a secret desire to taste this fruit, this restricts the spiritual heights that cane be attained.

The same principle applies to wealth. Most people desire to have a lot of money. Money relates to happiness in their minds. Due to lack of money they have had a deprived upbringing. While doing bhagatee/meditation a spiritual block is experience so long as their is desire for money. Desire can lead to one leaving the Gobind Marag (God’s Path) to steal other people’s wealth and belongings.
So, Sangat Jee, sabh assa muraada nu tyago atey Satguran Dey Charan Di Sharan Prapat Kariye!

A True story:

A Sant ji in India was visited by a mother and son, she was very frustrated, ‘O Baba ji, tell him to stop eating Gor (sugar cane candy), it’s bad for him, yet he eats it all the time. Baba ji I’ve tried everything but he just doesnt listen, so my humble request is YOU tell my son to stop’.

The wise old Sant nodded his head as the mother spoke and listened carefully, he replied ‘Bibi ji, ask me again in one week’s time’.

The mother said, ‘Sat Bachan (OK)’ and departed. She came back in exactly a week and listed all the same problems, ‘O Baba ji he still didnt stop, he might listen to you, please tell him’.

The Sant looked at the son and said, ‘Son listen to your mother and stop eating Gor.’

The mother and child left (whether he stopped or not isn’t important).

The sevadars around the Sant had observed the incident and said, ‘Baba ji, why didnt you just tell the boy last week? Did you do some reptitions (jap) or penance (tap) for him this week, or what?’

The Sant replied, ‘Gursikh pyari-o….last week I used to eat Gor, how could I tell him to do something that I don’t practise myself? After they left last week I stopped eating Gor and that is why I was able to ask him to stop as well!’

….and that my dear brothers and sister’s is the character of a KHALSA

Sangat Jee,
Once, someone asked Sant Attar Singh ji , ‘how come you’re a sant?’, to which he replied, ‘I lived my whole life respecting this beard as if it was Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s beard’.

Implying that

· he never showed his face in places where Guru ji wouldn’t have taken his own beard.

· he never said anything that Guru ji wouldn’t have said through his own beard.

· he never looked in the mirror and thought ‘Look how beautiful I am, rather he praised Guru ji for it was Guru ji’s beard on his face. -he never dared to take scissors and trim Guru ji’s beard

· infact he used his beard to wipe the feet of the saints ‘Gur ke Charan, Kes Sang Chaaareh’ Just like Guru Ram Das jee appeased Baba Sri Chand ji’s anger. Baba Sri Chand was angry that his father Guru Nanak ji never made him the second Guru. He went away from Sikhi and started his own sect. By the time of Guru Ram Das ji, his anger had calmed down. He came into Guru ji’s prescence and slightly arrogantly said ‘Why do keep such a long beard?’ To which Guru Ram Das Ji replied, ‘To wipe the feet of Saints’ and falling at the feet of this son of his beloved master Guru Nanak ji, Guru Ram Das ji wiped his feet. Baba Sri Chand was on old man by now and was taken aback. He said, ‘Now I understand why I didnt get the Guru-Ship, I didnt have humility as you have shown.’

A few years ago a giani ji was talking about the following little known incidents: Sant Isher Singh ji was having a question and answers session with a group of Sikhs, when middle-aged man walked in and started asking about the Sant’s experiences. He said, ‘Baba ji tell me about God, tell me about your spiritual experiences’. He was an arrogant man and kept pestering for an answer to his question. Sant Isher Singh ji got up and fell at his feet, saying ‘gareebee’ (i.e. spiritual poverty) is my experience.

A similar thing happened to Sant Attar Singh ji, when asked about his experiences, he removed his saropa(robe of honour) from around his neck and placed it at the man’s feet. HUMILITY.

Waheguroo Sanu Sareya Nu Nimarta Di Daat Bakshe!

As far as I know, Guru Amar Das ji used to tie his hair onto a wooden peg a few inches above his head as he sat cross-legged, so that if he fell asleep while doing simran his head would drop but his hair would be pulled and he’d wake up. Baba Nand Singh ji used to sit on a plank across the top of a deep well, so if he fell asleep while doing simran he’d fall and die. Basically because he’d rather be dead than forget God’s Name. There’s a shabad about ‘why did I fall asleep.’. Guru Gobind Singh ji said eat little and sleep little.

Practically, I’ve tried doing things at the extreme i.e. little food, little sleep, I did get alot of blessings, but ended up falling asleep at work and my body got too weak without proper food. The real thing is to be a Khalsa – Sant-Sipahee. Healthy and strong like Baba Deep Singh ji and sharp and alert rather than falling asleep through laziness.

The body is a machine, it needs sleep, exercise and food. To me `eat little, sleep little’ means don’t get so lazy that you sleep through amritvela and forget God’s Name. And don’t get led by your tongue’s desires so much so that you lose your hunger for doing Naam Simran. (sacheh naam kee lagee bhukh). But sleep and eat enough to be healthy.!! Sikhi isn’t about ridgidity, its about conducts and careful analysis of events together with practical experiences!

I once heard a story from a Gursikh that goes like this…

A man was travelling on his path he was determined to reach his ultimate goal. Along the way he started feeling hungry. He now had a new goal : To eat, he also felt thirsty so he left his original path and started walking towards the river. Reaching the river he thought it’s best to wash my hands before eating or drinking – yet another goal. So he bent down. The river was still he could see a golden bracelet deep down. All of a sudden he forgot his hunger and thirst, he forgot about washing his hands and thought only of possessing the golden bracelet. He jumped into the water but couldnt find it, a passer by saw him jumping in and out of the river and asked why. The passer by said ‘O Friend, the bracelet is not in the river it’s high up on the branches of the tree, you are chasing the reflection!’ The man now had yet another goal to climb the tree . . . and so on.

Morale: Guru Sahib has said other purpose of our life is spiritual – to become enlightened. Sikhi is the path our ultimate goal is Waheguru ji. Like the man in the story we set off on the path but get distracted by one thing after another and waste our precious time.

Guru Arjun Dev ji says ‘Gobind milan kee eh teree baria,’ ‘it’s your turn to meet the World Protector’ Waheguroo!
